Learning the basics correctly plays a crucial part in any students development, of which should never be overlooked and never underestimated. Never just use the these Videos to educate you purely on the technical aspects of movement without understanding the theory behind why the movements are carried out technical or otherwise. Use the videos as a guide towards technique and form, and always try to enhance your understanding and reasoning under the supervision of your Sensei or Senior Instructor in order to broaden and expand your physical abilities using professional guidance,  towards a full and comprehensive understanding of the laws of motion, and the system of Kokido Ryu Ninutsu as a hole.

Kakuobi

"How To Wear Your Obi"
The Kakuobi is a traditional Japanese belt worn by males with a Kimono or Yukata, or in some martial arts under the Hakama (Mainly Iaido and Kyudo, Aikido to a lesser extent). Obi is a generic term meaning "belt", kaku means "angle" or "squere" and in the case of "kakuobi" it refers to the shape of the belt.

Shemagh

SHEMAGH or Shadow Warrior Head Scarf
The shemagh (pronounced “schmog”) – also called a keffiyeh and ghutrah –originated in the Middle East. They are a scarf-type wrap commonly found in arid regions to provide protection from direct sun exposure, as well to protect the mouth and eyes from blown dust and sand. This Shemagh is also the formal head dress used by Shadow Warriors of the Kokido-Ryu-Ninjutsu style and competition members of the Honjojutsu Katori Ryu during the “Shadow Trials”.

Kyahan

A popular accessory which is important to have if you plan to wear your armour with your Hakama is the Kyahan. The Kyahan (known as gaiters by westerners) were leggings worn by samurai, their retainers ninjas and farmers in feudal Japan. Kyahan were used to hold their wide pant legs in and as extra padding underneath the samurai shin armour (Suneate).

The way and means of manoeuvring when in combat is an integral part of a good defence as well as an offensive strategy. An essential part in a good defence is manoeuvrability, and plays a key role in outwitting an opponent or evading an incoming attack directly or indirectly.

The Wing Strikes are used primerally to distract and confuse your opponent in a slapping or halting manor. The Introduction 5 Shadow Techniques are given to form the basic translation of the Ten techniques forming “ The Rising Fist” of which are part of the Kokidoryuninjutsu Yellow Belt Syllabus. The video demonstration gives only an indication of how each technique should be preformed against an opponent.
